60 Amp Circuit Breaker MKR-27

We strongly recommend purchasing a circuit breaker for two reasons: 

  • It's an inexpensive insurance policy for your motor in case your prop gets fouled or something causes an overload
  • Coast Guard regulations require a breaker on these types of electrical systems
The Minn Kota MKR-27, 60 amp circuit breaker is fully waterproof and protects the trolling motor from electrical damage. If the motor prop gets jammed and the motor isn't quickly turned off, the motor will continue to draw more and more power, eventually permanently damaging the components. With this breaker installed, the power will be cut once power draw reaches 60 amps preventing damage to the motor. This breaker is designed for Minn Kota motors as they all draw less than 60 amps during normal operations, but can be used with other motors as well. This circuit break installs easily in-line between the battery and the motor. Ideally, try to install the breaker as close to the battery as possible along your wiring. The breaker has two mounting holes and can be easily mounted/screwed onto any flat surface. Download installation instructions.
